After a year and a half of working without a vacation, I was able to fly out to visit a good friend of mine, Bobby Earle, in San Diego, CA. I was looking online for a flight, not thinking an inexpensive ticket would appear, when to my surprise I discovered a bottom-dollar ticket through orbitz. I verified the trip with my boss enabling me to work via laptop, which really worked out great financially.

My flight landed on the west coast last Thursday with one day left to my work week. Stoked about seeing the Pacific Ocean and the Algodones Dunes I was very excited about getting Friday over as soon as possible. Unfortunately when you’re working from a mobile office for the first time you end up doing all that you can to impress your boss. Therefore, Friday didn’t end as early as I hoped.Saturday, Bobby had scheduled a couple friends to travel down from LA area to model for some engagement photos. I was very excited about hearing this news and the opportunity to shoot great pictures relating to weddings in such a beautiful place.

The couple had to cancel at the last minute. At first I was at a loss for what fun the weekend now held. But soon Bobby, Lindsey (Bobby’s wife), and I were all packed in the car on our way to Carlsbad to setup my camcorder over the Pacific coast. Renee, my wife, had requested that I film a bit of the ocean for her. You see she’s from Florida and missies the water…

Once we got out, I started snapping pictures and my heart came alive with my eye behind the lens. I knew then, that with only casual pictures of California on my time away from Nashville, satisfaction would be mine. More pictures to come…
